From Winter 2017, there is a plan to open a Night Shelter in Hatfield to get rough sleepers off the streets during the winter months and provide support during that period to help get them off the street long term.
There are around a dozen rough sleepers in Hatfield and Hatfield Night Shelter aim to get these people off the streets during the cold winter months, to stop any cold related deaths and hospital admittances. They aim to not only give people a warm bed but also feed them an evening meal and breakfast. They will have people available each evening to provide support such as housing and debt advice, drug & alcohol support. They also aim to improve health and wellbeing by having first aid/nursing volunteers & counsellors. Depending on volunteer availability, they aim to provide services such as haircuts, podiatry, additional clothing, they have a veterinary nurse available for anyone who also has a pet. The list is almost endless depending on the skills of the volunteers who come forward to help.
The galleria are working with Hatfield Night Shelter to recruit volunteers and provide an array of donations. Click Hatfield Night Shelter below to find out more.
If you have a special skill please let Hatfield Night Shelter know as they are also looking for a range of skilled people, like cooks, hairdressers, nurses and admin staff.
