Every Sunday between 11am and 12pm, the Centre is committed to offering a quieter experience. Many of our brands will dim their lights where possible, turn off their music and tannoy announcements will be kept to a minimum to help guests enjoy a more peaceful shopping trip. If you have any suggestions for quiet hour or would like any further information on participating brands, please contact us at: thegalleria-guest@incentive-fm.com
Many people on the autism spectrum have difficulty processing everyday sensory information, and we recognise that visiting a shopping centre can present a difficult environment to some. We have therefore introduced new sensory toys for those needing some time out, please ask at our Customer Services and they will be able to provide these for you free of charge.
Potential Kids is an award winning charity based in The Galleria providing learning, social, and sports opportunities to Neurodiverse children and young people (Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Tourette Syndrome amongst other conditions), their siblings and families.
We offer after-school and weekend activity sessions at our training room in a secure part of the Galleria for children and young people. These are small enough in numbers to reduce social anxieties and fears.
The group is held in a safe and understanding environment, where our young people can be understood, accepted and have the opportunity of meeting others like themselves.
Our young people will have the time and space to enable them to learn and develop their social and communication skills, through play with other similar children. Most who attend will have limited opportunities to socialise, learn and have fun, as they may have been unable to join other mainstream clubs. We provide an avenue for young people to reduce their social isolation, increase their self-esteem, whilst also building their self-confidence.
