Sumac & Saffron Marketing Manager

At Sumac & Saffron, food is more than a meal—it’s a story, a connection, and a bridge between cultures. Based in The Galleria, Hatfield, our restaurant combines bold Middle Eastern flavours with a modern British dining experience.

We are looking for a creative and results-driven Marketing Manager to help shape and deliver our marketing strategy, grow our audience, and position our brand for national recognition.

Please read before applying

This is not a starter role, not a training position, and not suitable for junior social media managers.

We are looking for an experienced Marketing Manager with a proven track record of delivering results for hospitality or local consumer-facing businesses in the UK.

If you have not previously worked in a marketing manager role, please do not apply.

About the Role

We operate a live, growing restaurant business and are looking for a self-motivated, commercially minded Marketing Manager who can bring new marketing ideas, take ownership, and add real value to the business.

This role is for someone who understands how to connect marketing activity with footfall, bookings, and repeat customers, and who can help take the business to the next level, not just maintain social media.

You will work closely with operations and content support, shaping direction and ensuring consistent execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and deliver the overall marketing strategy for the business
  • Bring new, practical marketing ideas that drive awareness and revenue
  • Define and manage social media strategy (channels, tone, cadence, campaigns)
  • Direct and manage content creation output (briefing, standards, consistency)
  • Plan and execute local marketing campaigns to increase footfall and repeat visits
  • Build and manage relationships with:
  • local businesses and offices
  • universities and university staff
  • student communities
  • local organisations and partners
  • Drive awareness within a 20-mile local radius
  • Coordinate and manage external suppliers:
  • designers
  • printers
  • agencies
  • media partners
  • Monitor performance and adjust activity based on results (reach, engagement, bookings, ROI)

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • Proven experience as a Marketing Manager (not assistant / junior / trainee)
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and take ownership
  • Experience in hospitality, food, retail, or local consumer businesses
  • Strong understanding of UK consumer behaviour and local marketing culture
  • Fluent English (written and spoken) suitable for UK-facing campaigns
  • Confident managing people, suppliers, and campaigns end-to-end
  • Comfortable being present on-site and involved in the business

Preferred

  • Experience running local, community-led campaigns
  • Experience working with restaurants, bars, or hospitality groups
  • Familiarity with Meta ads, partnerships, promotions, and local outreach

Important Notes

  • This role requires experience, judgement, and initiative
  • We are building growth — not hiring a title
  • This is not suitable for:
  • entry-level applicants
  • career switchers
  • content creators looking to step up
  • candidates without UK market experience

Salary and structure will be discussed based on experience and availability.

How to Apply

Please apply only if you meet the experience criteria above.
Shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete a short pre-screening questionnaire before interview.
