About us
Free Books Hatfield is an independent book rehoming charity run entirely by volunteers. Our aims are to prevent books from going to landfill and promote reading in the community. The public donates books to us, we sort and put them on our shelves, and then customers can come in and take up to 8 books for free per visit. Since we first opened in June 2016 we have rehomed over 500,000 books!
Volunteering opportunities
If you're friendly, reliable, and like books, then we'd love to hear from you! Volunteers help sort and categorise books, fill shelves, and serve customers. Full training will be given and we are flexible on which shifts you sign up to. Speak to us in our bookshop or contact us on the email below.
Donations
We welcome donations of books anytime we're open, but please see our website for details on bringing them to our bookshop. If donating a large number of books (more than 80) please also email us in advance so we can give the volunteers on shift a heads up.
